Like discussed here: http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Integrations-with-Files-and/Refreshing-queries-with-functions-doens-t-work/td-p/2450 - queries where data access happens inside a function and where the data source is dependent on parameters to the function should be refreshable.
My case is recursively grabbing pages from an API. Easy enough to do, but can't refresh in the web. I understand the technical concerns about stack overflows and stuff, but this is still a deal breaker for me.
This would be hugely useful; would love to use the Microsoft Cognitive Services API's. Works great in desktop, useless without scheduled refresh on app.powerbi.com
I agree this is very frustrating, it seems like a pretty minor piece of functionality. I also can't get my head around why you need a gateway to access data that exists in the public domain?
This is a significant blocker to the realization of the potential of Power BI - bringing data together from anywhere. A huge number of use cases are prevented without this functionality.
I totally agree with this statement: "This is a significant blocker to the realization of the potential of Power BI - bringing data together from anywhere. A huge number of use cases are prevented without this functionality."
This function is really a must have. What is a value of a report if the content can not be automatically refreshed ? It's nice that Power BI Desktop support this function, but if in the same time the refresh service does not support it, I can not use the power of this functionnality for my client...
