Excel to use dax rather than mdx

When excel takes queries from ssas or power bi or power pivot it uses mdx. This must be legacy. Wouldn't it be better to default excels query build to generate a dax query??

Why? Can you delete this? MDX isn't going away; and this sounds like it is just personal preference.

Even PBI uses MDX when importing (PQ) from one dataset into another. If MDX was supposed to be legacy, then why would they continue using it in a modern dataset-to-dataset scenario in PBI?

In the very least, please explain what actual problem you have? Are you encountering pivot-table performance issues with MDX as compared to DAX? This idea resembles a classic "XY problem", to some degree.
