Composite models when connected to AS models (PBI datasets and Azure Analysis Services)

We really love the new feature of 'Composite Models' in the Power BI July 2018 update! This enables us to join custom lists with DirectQuery sources. It would also be beneficial if this would also work when connected to SSAS Tabular in DirectQuery. This would stronlgy improve the enterprise features of Power BI.

Please make sure this is done on the RS version of PB also. So many features not included in the PB RS version that are in the public release. Stop ignoring on prem customers.

Friends, the Microsoft team has done an amazing job with the Composite Model. This one feature would take it to a while new level. If you are considering voting for this idea, please watch my appeal video here...and then smash that Vote button 🙂 https://youtu.be/UbGRpevvZU0

Having more than one cube in a report is very important for several important report we need to deliver. Always relying on the cube itself getting fatter and fatter to become the uber-cube-that-solves-it-all is not feasible in many non-trivial cases.

Composite model toghether with SSAS live connection would help us a lot to solve ad hoc requests properly and in a fast way.

Definitely a ‘must have’ for an enterprise solution. My users work with a live connection to SSAS (cannot download the entire dataset on each worker's machine) but then want to integrate with data on the fly, perhaps coming from the latest market data, which would never made it to the datacentre on time to be useful to the final report.
