Collate SQL Database

Our company wanted to migrate their data from an SQL Server database to Fabric.
The database we wanted to migrate has a specific collation, in particular it is case sensitive.

It would be nice if we could alter the collation of SQL Databases to make migration easier.

Status: Planned

This capability will be available for use by end of January 2026

@sukkaur As we are past the end of January, may I kindly ask whether there is an updated timeline for the availability of this capability?

@Oviwan I think it already works, but haven't seen any news on it yet. I tried to migrate one of our SQL databases to Fabric and I did not encounter the same problem I had back in November, the collation did not cause any problems anymore.

@Jappieduck  When we create a new SQL Database, it still always has the collation SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, verified using SELECT DATABASEPROPERTYEX(DB_NAME(), 'Collation'); — and I have not found any way to change it.
