Hi,
My IT supplier changed the server of a SQL database which I used to access through a gateway.
It looks like I can not add the new data source to my gateway in PowerBI service.
Does my IT supplier needs to change/install a new gateway because of the change in the server??
Hi,
Yes it does. Power BI gateways run on at the server level. You can imagine a gateway as a data tunel from the server to power bi service. If you change the database to a new surver you need to provide a new gateway (Tunel) to have data flowing
Tnx for your reply! Is a simple update of gateway sufficient or install a total new gateway?
You ned to install a total new gateway.
Please check the topic bellow, it should help you rebind to your new sources
