Hi there,
First off, I'm in no way a Power BI expert. So, I'm an absolute newb to this.
I have a client who already has a personal connector on his machine. It's all good but if that account used for the connection is signed out, the reports don't refresh. Otherwise, it all works fine.
So, thought I could move it over to an on-prem gateway on his machine. That installed just fine however, when in Power BI online, it sees that connector but states "Not Configured Correctly" under status.
Checking the status of the gateway all seems correct and fine.
Trying to connect data sources when selecting "Add to Gateway" results in an "Invalid connection credentials".
Where am I going wrong?
Thanks for your help!
@Frostbitte Unlike personal gateway, you need to add data sources to the gateway and then make sure that those are shared with the appropriate users.
Thanks for the tip, I do believe I tried that. But maybe I missed that part?
@Frostbitte So are you clicking on the Add to gateway link? Does the server have a "t" drive? Do you get a prompt for credentials? Does the credential you are putting in have access to the t drive and to that file path?
Yes, clicking that Add to Gateway link brings up the setup connection window. Adding the user domain\username and password doesn't work. Brings up the error in stated above even though it's the same user that has access to the T: drive and file. There's is a T: drive but older documentation shows you should try to use the full path i.e. \\server\sharepath\file. The credentials being used do have access to that drive and file.
