Exporting to Excel from Power BI is supported. You have two options for exporting your data to Excel: * Once you publish to the Power BI service, you can export your data to Excel by clicking on the ... button for any visual. See more info here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-export-data/ * You can use the Analyze in Excel feature to connect directly to your model in Excel: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-analyze-in-excel/

It is good as long as it is working. Looks like it was working before but now there is no menu option to export to csv (excel).

I'd like Excel too, because explaining to a regional manager in Thailand how to import a csv with the right decoder is hell 😛

This is needed when working with non ascii characters (like Chinese). They are not shown properly when openend in excel directly from csv. For our customers it is too difficult to open/import the csv in the proper way(with UTF set right).

From the financial world exporting to Excel directly is a must have, since anything with 16 digit numbers looses the 16th digit when going from CSV to excel, unless you go through the import wizard. Which as others have mentioned is a real challenge to explain to users

Exporting numbers with leading zeros also requires the use of the import wizard, just opening the csv removes these leading zeros. Another vote for the option to export to xls(x)!

This blocks the usage by us of Power BI right now. Also it would be great if you implement smooth consistent experience for Mac OS X users as well as for Windows users.

This would be especially useful for the Matrix visual to export analysis results in form they're presented in the visual including totals and subtotals so that the analysis result can be used in other office apps i.e. for presentations.
