Spellcheck is automatically turned on for text boxes, but can't be dismissed

When adding a text box to a report, spellcheck automatically analyzes the contents and highlights words not in it's dictionary with the familiar red squiggle. There is no way to dismiss this squiggle, meaning that the highlighting is always present. There is no way to disable spellcheck via options either.

I dont need spellchecking personally, please add option to disable. This is very annoying especially if your language is not English.

any updates on this 3 year old idea? with the amount of customization, company specific terminology, and acronyms used in BI this seems just silly.

Irritating indeed, but there's a workaround : "Just go to another page and back anytime the line occurs." Found here https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Unnecessary-Autocorrection/td-p/57697 Just tried and it works

Most folks building dashboards are going to use acronyms, etc., that won't match any dictionary. Should be able to either add "words" to dictionary, or dismiss the spellchecker. I realize that the red underscoring disappears when the dashboard is being used. . . but that doesn't mean I want or need the software to do my thinking for me or decide for me what is / is not spelled correctly. feature should toggle on/off at user's discretion . . . and allow user to add "words" to the dictionary

Still an issue in 2022.

It's an absolute joke, as is forced American English, which I'm sick to death of requesting with all Microsoft products. Honestly if an AI can write you a paper in the style of the King James Bible it really shouldn't be that hard to develop a sensible spell checker with a dictionary...at least give us a disable on/off button Microsoft!

I use a text box for writing my comments in Czech. This leads to the whole content of the textbox being underlined in red :(.
