Send Refresh Failure Notifications to Distribution List

It would be helpful to be able to set up a distribution list of those to send refresh failure notifications to. Currently, only the owner receives an email, but we have several administrators that require notification when certain reports fail.

Is it possible to have an 'alerts'/email generated if a data source report fails to refresh?

Currently when a refresh fails only the owner of the report/dataset is sent an email to let them know. An email should also be sent to the enterprise gateway administrators so they are aware of the failure.

Couldn't agree more, just had a refresh failure notice and it took me 20 minutes to determine which of the datasets failed in the 30 plus workspaces out there

Up-voting this idea, specifically to include query names in the error messages. I ran into a situation attempting to refresh a report, and got a very generic message: There was an error when processing the data in the dataset. The technical details were not much better: Data source errorUnable to refresh the model (id=xxx) because it references an unsupported data source. With a few dozen queries, this became quite the task just to figure out which query or queries were causing the issue. With some specifics on which queries failed or even which data source was detected as "unsupported" this frustration could have been mitigated entirely. Once it was known, it was trivial to figure out how to update the queries to succeed.

'Hi, I really appreciate the email that is generated when the scheduled refresh failed. Would it be possible to add there: - name or ID of workspace failed report is in? - information why it failed (eg. "Could not resolve QueryDefinition due to invalid SourceEntity reference '_MyMeasures'. This error often happens after the Entity was renamed or deleted. Please update the query/visual to use the new name or undo the name change. - Source: 'User' " It would be very helpful for us, who have many workspaces and need to know what is wrong. Thank you, Zuzana

It would be great if instead of one email per failure, we could get a summary email of all failures. I am the "owner" of close to 100 reports and when there is a gateway (or other) issue I receive close to 100 emails.

The scheduled data source failure notification is only sent to the data source owner, it would be more useful if you could specify the recipient(S) or group.

This would be very helpful. Having only one recipient notified of the failure isn't enough

Indeed... I've created the bulk of the reports used by my organization. Now I want to go on leave, and I've had to create an auto-forwarding rule for refresh failure notifications so that they can be investigated by someone else if they occur. Not the most elegant solution - awesome as it is, Power BI definitely needs a little more team/enterprise capabilities.

Really need this feature. Some of our power BI user like service accounts, which does not have real email. Then no email notification received when refresh data failure.
