Salesforce dataset to connect to custom objects and fields

First of all, very impressive with the features Power BI Public Preview, I have one question regarding the Salesforce Dataset though, can it connect to custom objects? I've looked but can't find where it can. Thanks!

This one seriously needs to happen. I could be entirely operating with a connection between Power BI Cloud and SFDC, however I can't because nearly all the tables I need to get to aren't available. This would also solve my problem of having to do a local gateway to pull data down from SFDC to get these fields and make refreshing in general a better experience. If your offering a cloud service - direct, and fully functioning cloud connectors is a must, please don't limit us.

I would love to live link Salesforce to Power BI, but without custom fields, Power BI remains almost unusable for my work. Please help!

Our company currently uses Domo BI, and I'm doing a comparison with Power BI. We use both Salesforce and Dynamics AX (moving to D365). The Domo ability to do a SOQL query is setting it apart from Power BI at this point. A lot of the other features of Power BI are great, but we can't get to the SalesForce custom objects/data.

Not sure if it falls in this same category but it will be useful also to be able to use a custom report type as a data source.

If anyone is interested, I've developed two custom Salesforce connectors that enable you to: (1) Execute custom SOQL queries; and (2) Extract Salesforce metadata

'@Simon - would be very interested in seeing the custom Salesforce connectors mentioned for custom SOQL + SF Metadata

'@Simon - I would also be interested. Having issues refreshing Salesforce dataset in the PBI Service due to the limitation that one user can only run 10 queries at a time so keep getting the infamous "invalid query locator" error 😞 This is fixed on desktop by disabling parallel loading of tables.

Why no progress even after 5 years?
