Dynamic execution of Data pipelines via REST API and Service Principal (Application Authentication / Permission)

I need to be able to call pipelines from outside of Fabric, without going into Edge and grabbing an auth token. This is easily achieved in ADF. Integration of Fabric to a multi-faceted Data management solution depends on this functionality surely? On the whole I like Fabric, but it's inability to do these things lets it down IMO
