Don't automatically add new tiles to dashboard

When I use Get Data to upload a report to the Power BI Service, it automatically pins a tile to a dashboard. I believe it pins to the dashboard I was most recently on, but this isn't always the case. This automatic pinning is confusing, and I end up with lots of reports pinned to dashboards that are totally unrelated. This creates lots of manual work hunting down and cleaning up these tiles. It also create numerous dependencies for content packs, as a dashboard pulls in all reports with pinned tiles - if tiles are automatically pinned, it starts to grow content packs unnecessarily. Please remove the automatic pinning, and allow the user to control when and where they want the content to be pinned.

I was just about to enter that exact same idea! The current behavior is really annoying, and it hits us over and over again. Very much support this request!

Wasted so much time trying to figure out which random dashboard my new asset was pinned to. Please fix.

I agree too. we plan to have 20 reports based on 2 Tabular model (on premise) and seeing 20 datasets is a problem.

This just happened to me AGAIN! Another .pbix file from a recent upload got pinned to a dashboard I hadn't looked at in months. It took me quite a while of perusing my content packs to figure out what it had been pinned to. This is an especially annoying problem in group workspaces, where files I upload get pinned to dashboards that someone else made, and nobody realizes it. Please make it stop!

We are experiencing the same issue on our team. Voting for this to be fixed in the next release.

I'm floored that there aren't more votes and comments on this. Any business using Power BI as an enterprise level reporting tool obviously needs to be able to control when tiles are added to dashboards. Why on earth would we want a tile added to some random dashboard we didn't even select???

Yes please remove the automatic pinning and allow the users to control.

This needs to be fixed as soon as possible, it also is worth noting that the new report that pins itself to a recently accessed dashboard also automatically inherits permissions from the dashboard, so not only do you have to remove the rogue pinned report tile, you also have to immediately clean up the permissions for the report. This is not acceptable.

Opened a ticket yesterday ad Got a call from PowerBI team same day. Whenever using the "Get Data" option, PowerBI service AUTOMATICALLY pins the new report/dataset to the dashboard with the HIGHEST Connection rate. This happens by design of the PowerBI service and "Get data" option. Product managers do not have in their plans to change it, and the only option is to Vote and get visibility. Hope it helped
