pbi api refresh internal service error

Hi there!

we are using pbi api to refresh our oracle dataset through gateway. this morning we have so many report refresh failed with the same error.

Something went wrong
Refresh failed:

ops-nice has failed to refresh.
Failure details: The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error. This is usually a transient issue. If you try again later and still see this message, contact support.

Your understanding is almost correct. What I want to add is that CPU usage is also related to the number of reports currently being used and users, because it also involves refresh (DQ) or RLS, etc.

The last update attempt could not be made due to an internal service error. It is usually a temporary problem. If you try again later and you still see this message, please contact technical support

I do have follow up question regarding this issue. Our memory usage is good. only CPU usage will  spike in each morning. I suppose cpu usage is not related to how big the dataset is and it is only related to how many dataset refresh at the same time. Is my assumption correct? If my assumption is correct, the only thing we can do is reschedule those reports in different time or we need to upgrade to P2 capacity.

I also checked our CPU capacity usage this morning. I found capacity reached peak in this morning.

my questions is that there is any way we can see cpu usage of sepcific dataset so we can identify which report cause this issue?

Hi, @Anonymous

If you are the administrator, You can go to the admin portal to find out which datasets are refreshed in the corresponding time period based on this point. You can also check the refresh status of each dataset here.

Usually, Capacity overload won't be caused by the refresh of one single dataset. I suggest you set the schedule refresh in different time periods to avoid overload.
