Hi Power Bi Community,
Is it possible to apply Dynamic RLS to the new DATAMART feature in power bi?
There neither seems to be the possiblilty to enter DAX expressions e.g. =USERPRINCIPALNAME() or view as a individual person, only as a role.
Would love to hear if anyone has any information or experience on this
I was trying to implement dynamic RLS in datamarts, looks like there is no option to write DAX expressions in Roles. Only static filters working (hardcoded filters like Region = 'USA'). We may need to create another dataset on top of datamart with import mode to implement dynamic RLS.
@gauthamboppana I am also struggling on the same issue, but I didn't understand the solution you suggested to Ronan.
Could you be more specific on the example please ?
Thank you
Hey @RonanCampbell - Unfortunately, not. Datamart is more like database in cloud. We cannot apply RLS within Datamart. You have to cerate the RLS roles in Power BI dataset (cerated using the Datamart). Hope this helps !
Did I answer your question? Mark my post as a solution! If not, please feel free to ask me.
Also, I would ❤ Kudos if my solution helped. It is a token of appreciation!
Thank you very much !
thanks @gauthamboppana
I'm not sure I understand fully. How can I apply RLS to the dataset that's created with the datamart?
If I connect to the dataset via power bi desktop the model/relationships are already set up and not adaptable, unless I "add a local model".
