Hi everyone,
I'm currently building a report in Power BI Service within Microsoft Fabric. The report is based on a semantic model and uses Direct Lake mode.
I'd like to include our company logo in the report, but I'm having trouble making it available in Power BI Service. From what I’ve found online, it seems the only option is to use an image hosted on a public URL.
Is that really the only way, or is there a workaround to use a local or internal image instead?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Udo
P.S.: Apologies if this issue has already been addressed in the forum — I searched but couldn’t find anything helpful.

Hi @Udo_S
When using Power BI Service and Direct Lake mode (especially within Fabric), the only supported way to add an image like your company logo is to use an image from a public URL. Embedding local files or images from an internal (non-public) location isn’t supported in Power BI Service reports, this is a limitation by design for cloud rendering and security reasons.
There’s no official workaround for local or internal images. Even using "Image URL" columns in tables or cards requires the image to be accessible via a public HTTP(S) link. Uploading or embedding image files directly into the report layout (as you can in Power BI Desktop) does not carry over to the published web version unless the image is referenced from the web.
Hi @rohit1991 ,
Thank you for your quick response!
Your explanation makes perfect sense. I will go ahead and create a Blob Storage for the Power BI assets.
Best regards,
Udo
