Filters on published report
Hello,
I have a report which when I publish has persistent filters unticked.
I viewed the report, set a selection via a slicer on the page, shut down my computer (Windows 11).
This morning, I turned my computer on, opened the service and the report. The filter was still set.
To me this is unexpected as I thought shut down means logged out of service, therefore as persistent filters unticked, report should return to its original state.
Other than logging out of powerbi directly and convincing everyone else to do the same, or sticking a reset filter bookmark on the page rather than the little green one in the corner, is there anything I can do so that when users see the published report in the service, in our tenant, they see the report in it's original state before they start applying filters? (Especially in the turned computer off/on or from one day to the next scenarios.)

Just in case. I said you should "enable" that setting. You are saying "yes it is disabled". Make sure you check it, publish and overwrite the report. That will always open the report in default state without the need of clicking a reset button.

From what you have described, it seems you are encountering an issue where your report retains slicer selections in the Power BI Service, even though you have disabled the "Persistent filters" option when publishing. You expected that after shutting down your computer and reopening the report the next day, the report would reset to its original state but instead, it opened with the previous slicer selections still applied.This behaviour can be confusing. Just to clarify, disabling persistent filters stops Power BI from saving filters across sessions permanently. However, it does not reset slicer selections if the user's browser session or sign-in state remains active. Shutting down the computer does not necessarily log the user out of the Power BI Service so when the report is reopened, the last in-session filter state may still appear due to browser or session caching.
If your goal is to ensure that all users always see the default version of the report (i.e., the clean, published state) every time they open it, there are a couple of things you can do. First, I’d recommend creating a bookmark in Power BI Desktop that captures the report’s default view with no filters or slicers applied and then assigning that bookmark to a button labelled something like “Reset View.” This way, users can click it anytime to return to the intended default state.
Additionally, while disabling persistent filters is the right step, you can also encourage users to use the built-in “Reset to Default” option (the little green icon in the top-right of the Power BI Service) to manually return to the published view. This ensures consistency across user sessions.

Thank you for using the Microsoft Community Forum.Thank you for the support and time taken to explain about log ins. So I think the issue may well be my expectation of shut down computer would equal logging out. Yet it does not log out. Therefore, I think we will continue to promote the use of green reset button at the start of each session using the report. I suppose with odd working times, multiple devices etc... all using the same login, it would be a tricky thing to have shut down as log out or an overnight reset to the report's features.
Both your solutions are the things I'd mentioned as not wanting to do if possible to avoid.
