Good morning,
In September we have set up a usage metrics report. The person who set it up has since left the company, but I managed to secure their user's access.
Currently the Usage Metrics shows
"Report usage based on data from 8/26/2024 to 9/24/2024"
I can only see the uage reports on the home pane, the location shown for them - production workspace - does not include the reports.
When trying to access the semantic model from the report I get an error saying "Sorry, couldn't find that smeatic model, it may have been deleted or you may not have access to view it"
From the Onelake Catalog, there is no Usage Metrics semantic model or report
Some people suggested deleting the report by entering teh workspace and report ID into a feature inside MS learn. Tried that, did nothing.
Lastly, based on the documentation here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-modern-usage-metrics I went to the workspace > Power BI settings > Sematic model, and low and behold I can see the Usage Metrics Report Semantic model. However it says last refresh failed in September, and although I've taken over the model and updated the credentials, I can't seem to locate and force a refresh.
Can anyone point out the right direction please?
Thanks,
EDIT: worth noting that the restored user also can't see the report.

Thanks for everyone that replied to this thread.
Unforunately I couldn't find a way to manually refresh it, but upon checking the reports today, lo and behold they show the latest data... which is interesting to say the least.
Anyway, for anyone encountering this issue, mine was fixed automatically after a couple of days; just make sure you take over the semantic model feeding the report, so that credentials work.

We had many customers encountering the issue, we have it documented now how to drop/recreate metrics. You should be able to go into settings--> Manage Group Storage and delete the usage metrics. Make sure to include this at the end of the URL.
?showHiddenUsageMetricsModels=1
Hi @glearner
What I would recommend doing is going to the report, right clicking on the report and click on view usage metrics. This should hopefully then create the usage metric report within your user context.
Hi @GilbertQ , thanks for your input.
That is indeed the first thin that came to mind, however it seems that this report is always linked ot the same semantic model, one that is not updating, meaning the newly created report is also outdated.
There is surely a more intuitive and easier solution I'm still obvlious to
Hi @glearner,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
@GilbertQ Thank you for your quick response.
Based on the information provided by Microsoft, if the user who initially launched the Usage Metrics Report leaves the organization or is removed from the workspace, the refresh will not continue automatically. You will need to manually resume the scheduled refresh in this case.
Here’s the key point from the screenshot:
“You may need to resume scheduled refresh if... the user who first launched the usage metrics report leaves or is no longer a part of the organization.”
If this post helps, then please consider Accepting as solution to help the other members find it more quickly, don't forget to give a "Kudos" – I’d truly appreciate it!
