Hello,
I’m facing a persistent problem with "System Error Code 1722" when trying to install certain programs on my Windows 11 PC. From what I’ve gathered, it seems to be an issue with the Windows Installer package, but I’m not sure how to fix it.
I’ve already tried updating my Windows Installer, running Windows Update, and checking for any corrupted system files with the SFC tool, but the error still appears. Has anyone here successfully fixed this error before? Any detailed guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, @jawop
Here are some steps you can take to resolve this error:
1. Check Windows Installer Service
Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. In the Services window, locate the "Windows Installer" service. Ensure that the service is running. If it's not, right-click and select "Start". Set the startup type to "Automatic" if it's not already set.
2.Re-register the Windows Installer Service
Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter to open Command Prompt. Type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:
msiexec /unregister
msiexec /register
Restart your computer and try the installation again.
3.Update Windows
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Click on Check for updates and install any available updates. Restart your computer after installing updates.
4.Run the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter
5.Check for Corrupted System Files
You mentioned using the SFC tool, but let's ensure the steps were followed correctly:
Run the following command:
sfc /scannow
Wait for the process to complete and follow any on-screen instructions. Additionally, run the DISM tool to repair any system image issues:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
After the process completes, restart your computer.
6. Clean Boot
Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter. In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab. Check Hide all Microsoft services and then click Disable all. Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. In Task Manager, disable all startup items. Close Task Manager and go back to System Configuration. Click Apply and OK, then restart your computer. Try installing the program again.
7.Ensure your system is not infected with malware that might be interfering with installations
8.Reinstall the Program
Uninstall any partially installed instances of the program. Download the latest version of the installer from the official website. Run the installer as an administrator.
