Subscription and Row Level Security

Hi Guys,

I have a dashboard which has around 500-600 users. The client however is not keen on asking every user to subscribe. Can an admin do the subscription process for the users?
Also, we have implemented Row Level Security in the dashboard so if an admin does the subscription process does the RLS flow properly?

Please help me out as I could not find any documentation pertaining to the same.

Thanks!

Hi @veenashenolikar ,

"Can an admin do the subscription process for the users?"

Yes, please refer the documentation:

Subscribe yourself and others to reports and dashboards in the Power BI service

"Also, we have implemented Row Level Security in the dashboard so if an admin does the subscription process does the RLS flow properly?"

Even if it is a dashboard that the administrator subscribes for others, RLS still takes effect.

In fact, for members of a workspace with Admin / Member / Contributor roles, RLS does not take effect, regardless of how it is shared.

Best regards,
Lionel Chen

This is not correct. Subscriptions do not respect RLS for subscription recipients as it bases the RLS on the Owner of the subscription (an admin in this case)

Hi @v-lionel-msft,

Thank you very much for this "small detail" that can be in the end a game changer!

You saved my time while investigating.

Iva M.

@v-lionel-msft  Thanks for the help!
