Semantic Models

When I edit a remote semantic model, it removes direct query connections when it is published. Is there a way to connect a desktop report to a remote semantic model with existing direct query connections, edit its transforms/imports etc... and publish the new version while keeping its existing direct query connections?

Hi @rschoenlein

Begin by connecting your report to the remote semantic model using a live connection.
• To make changes, convert the live connection to DirectQuery mode. This creates a local model in Power BI Desktop, enabling you to make transformations, add calculated columns, or modify imports

When publishing, ensure that tenant settings allow DirectQuery connections to Power BI semantic models. If this setting is disabled, contact your Power BI administrator to enable it
