I have an existing table in my Lakehouse, and the table is also in the default semantic model. In Excel, I created a chart using Data > Data from Power BI, and selecting my table from the Lakehouse.
After that, I inserted more rows of data into the Lakehouse table via a Fabric notebook. When I went to the Lakehouse, I could see that the table has been updated. I refreshed the Power BI connection in Excel, but my chart did not update. I then tested the semantic model by creating a report within my Fabric workspace from it, and I can see that the new rows are missing from the report.
In the past, I've ran a dataflow replacing the entire table (not inserting) with new data and the semantic model refreshed properly - I could see the changes reflected in Excel.
How can I refresh the semantic model to include the newly added rows of data? I would like to not have to manually delete the table from the model and adding it back in (although this works), since this I'm trying to automate processes. If I do have to delete the table from the model and add it back in, is there a way I can do this through code? - so I can add the code to my notebook which will be run on a schedule

We also experience intermittent refresh issues when connecting to the semantic model via Excel.
This happens in both, Excel in the browser and Excel client which are all up to date.
Is this a know Excel limitation because most analysts still use Excel and pivot tables?
Hi @alee023 ,
Adding new columns involves changes to the schema, which cannot be refreshed in the service. More details can be found in the documentation: Data refresh in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn.
Also, I found a similar case, maybe you can refer to it. Solved: Re: How do I automate PowerBI Semantic model schem... - Microsoft Fabric Community
If your Current Period does not refer to this, please clarify in a follow-up reply.

To clarify, I'm not adding additional columns or changing the schema of the table. I'm adding more rows of data to the table.
