Scheduled Refreshes with Python on PBI Service

Hi folks,

can someone tell me the best setup for a report that e.g. uses a Python script for visualization, but that reports needs to be updated on a daily basis - i.e. I do want a schedule refresh performed by PBI Service via on-prem gateway.

I read that the only solution is the usage of a personal gateway, but I don't see it a reasonable solution to have a company wide reporting solution in that case that is depended on a person gateway. What happens if the machine is offline/owner is on vacation and so on...

I still can not believe that this is the case...so please someone tell me that there is a better solution -> even if it is like installing the personal gateway to the on-prem company gateway and hijack this machine...

Unfortunately I do think this is the case, reasoning i guess would be it probably has to do with the fact that power bi already has a default way of transforming the data ie power query that is easy to schedule, in the cloud or the enterprise gateway, as other such as sql etc.    If using other enterprise solutions such as adf etc with python that would be another way of doing it to use the enterprise data gateway, or a vnet gateway, there are a variety of options. 

You might have to consider going a different route if the personal gateway doesn't work for you.   unfortunately this is currently a limitaion, which i guess would shift if there was more demand for it.
