Scheduled Refresh - Gateway Issue

Hi,

Has anyone else had issues with scheduled refreshes failing due to this error? We have on-prem gateways set up but until recently haven't needed to establish them when scheduling daily refreshes. Our data warehouse is an Azure SQL Database.

Could you please check the gateway status is online? 

Because don't install a gateway on a computer, like a laptop, that might be turned off, asleep, or disconnected from the internet. The gateway can't run under any of those circumstances.

There are some limitations about the gateway.

This isn't the issue. We currently do have online gateways that are established and able to be enabled. However, previously we were able to refresh the dataset's daily without needing to have the gateway enabled. The online Power BI service was able to connect to our Azure Cloud Database successfully without the need to route through our on-prem gateway.

Hi @KyleD ,

You are correct that normally cloud-to-cloud does not need a gateway.  You may want to check on the report in the settings on the Service and see if the gateway FOR THIS REPORT is for some reason turned on (accidentally or it automatically did it for some reason - like another data source that does need a gateway).

Another option is as to whether or not your Azure moved in some way - if the instance was moved to a virtual machine then you would need a gateway.
