REST API Dataflows - Get Dataflow Data Sources does not work for Dataflow gen2

Hello experts,

I try to create a model where I can see if all my dataflows and datasets are updated. Therefor I want to extract all dependencies. But I often face the issue, that the rest apis do not work . This one for example:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/dataflows/get-dataflow-data-sources#code-try-0
When I execute it for a dataflow gen1 I take workspaceid and datadlowid from url and get a result, when I do it for a gen2 dataflow I get an error http 400 bad request. All dataflows are in the same workspace and created by me. Any Idea why this does not work ?

log:

Response Code: 400

content-type: application/json; charset=utf-8

"error": {

}

Hi @joschu-web

The Power BI APIs that you are using are only for dataflow gen 1. I'd suggest taking a look at the Fabric APIs. Specifically, Items - Get Dataflow Definition - REST API (Dataflow) | Microsoft Learn

You will need to decode the base64 payload, but once done this should give you all details you need to know about the dataflow gen 2.

Hi @joschu-web

I can not help you with this issue but want to provide you some alternatives for your problem itself.

If you want to check if a item successfully run in Fabric you can use the "Monitor" tab. Also you can filter by item or item type there.

Another nice option is to use the FUAM app. There is a dedicated report page where you see the refresh data of all your semantic models.

Hope these are possible other options for you.

Best regards!

Thanks, but I want to create a report where all information is in one place and not lookup everything separately
