i have asked question about data compress in Data compression Procedure - Microsoft Fabric Community
but i still confuse for the full process of Data Processing(Encrption and Compression).
1. For Publishing a report from local device.
the process is : create file from Power BI desktop(local) > compress and optimize by VertiPag Engine(local) > Publish to Power BI Service > data encryption > How the imported data and report view being encrypted in Power BI Service?
2. For an existing report in power BI Service,
the process is Data enquiry > Data encryption by data gateway> compress by VertiPag in Power BI Service?first encrypt then compress?
if the process is like this, then procedure is different from publishing report? <which is compress then encrypt>
3. the 1GB checking in Local? or in Power BI Service? What would happen if exceeds 1GB, 1GB means the pbix file size?(inlcuding the report view(visualization)?
4. For user open a report from Power BI service, what is the process behind? report view is cached? i mean the Data at Rest and Data in Store concept
Solved! Go to Solution.
Publishing a report: Create in Power BI Desktop, compress with VertiPaq locally, publish to Power BI Service, and encrypt data at rest in the service. Power BI uses Microsoft-managed encryption by default, with an option for BYOK.
Querying an existing report: Data is encrypted in transit via the gateway, then compressed by VertiPaq in Power BI Service. Publishing compresses first, then encrypts, while querying encrypts first, then compresses.
The 1GB limit refers to the compressed data model size, checked during publishing. Larger datasets require a premium workspace.
Opening a report: Data at rest is encrypted, report visuals are cached for performance, and live queries occur only if fresh data is needed.
