Questions about the full process of Compression, Encryption in Publish report and Enquiry Data
- 1 year ago
Hi pennyhoho117
Publishing a report: Create in Power BI Desktop, compress with VertiPaq locally, publish to Power BI Service, and encrypt data at rest in the service. Power BI uses Microsoft-managed encryption by default, with an option for BYOK.
Querying an existing report: Data is encrypted in transit via the gateway, then compressed by VertiPaq in Power BI Service. Publishing compresses first, then encrypts, while querying encrypts first, then compresses.
The 1GB limit refers to the compressed data model size, checked during publishing. Larger datasets require a premium workspace.
Opening a report: Data at rest is encrypted, report visuals are cached for performance, and live queries occur only if fresh data is needed.
