Problems connecting via Excel plugin

Hello,

Hoping to solve a problem I am having with the Excel plugin. I have successfully connected to the service using the plugin and have been using the tool for many months now. We are now rolling out access to this tool to other users in our organization and are noticing that it works on some computers but not others. To be clear, the factor is not the user but the computer.

For example, using my current machine, I can connect easily to the service in excel and extract data to be used for analysis. However, when I attempt to use the same login on a different computer, I get the following error. I know it is not a permissions error and I know it exists since I am able to access the data source on the other machine.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot this issue on the computers in question?

Thank you

Michael

Seems the issue was local file permissions for the user. We added read & write permissions for Everyone on the excel application and it corrected the issue for the users.

Hi, @Anonymous

You may try reinstalling the latest Excel plugin in others' computers. I wonder whether you used Connect Live in the dataset which you connected to.

Best Regards

Hello @v-alq-msft ,

Both computers have the latest version of the plugin. Same user login. The plugin accepts the microsoft credentials, but then will not connect.

I was able to get the plugin to work when I run excel as administrator. I do not need to run as administrator on the other machine. The excel versions are different. Are there known issues with this plugin for certain excel versions?

Michael

Hi, @Anonymous

You may check the supported versions of the Excel for the plugin. Try to update the excel to the same version as the one in your computer.

Best Regards
