Premium Capacity

Hi!

One of our premium per user licence holders can see the option 'Premium Capacity' option (not greyed out) when trying to upgrade the workspace. This is in addition to the premium per user option. But in the Power BI tenant settings, it doesn't show any capacities.

Any idea why this option is showing up for him?

Thank you

Hi @Sangeeth ,

Thanks for @lbendlin reply. The Premium Per User license is a type of license based on the Pro license that provides Premium features. It is a kind of user-based license, which is different from capacity-based Premium license. Premium Per User capacity is shared by all Premium Per User licenses users across the tenant/organization. There will always be only one Premium Per User capacity per tenant, and this capacity will be available when the user is first assigned a Premium Per User license for that tenant. Power BI Premium Per User - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Premium capacity in Capacity Settings is different from Premium capacity in Premium Per User licenses, and Premium capacity in Capacity Settings is a separately purchased Premium capacity. If you need users to view Premium capacity purchased in your organization, you need to make sure that they're assigned as either a Capacity admin or a user that has assignment permissions. That is not a Premium Capacity. As of July 1st 2024 you can no longer purchase Premium capacities.

That is a Fabric capacity, and sadly anyone with some sort fo a subscription can buy one.
