Hi,
I need help fixing the error below.
I have built a report on PowerBI desktop connecting to a local MySQL database and it works fine. I am attempting to migrate to use Dataflows for scheduled refresh and this is where I have a problem.
I encountered the below error before when connecting on PowerBI desktop and resolved it by installing the recommended MySQL connector. However for the PowerBI service I am not sure how to go about this. I did attempt installing the connector on the gateway but it hasnt worked.
An exception occurred: MySQL: We were unable to find a database provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'.
This error could've been the result of provider-specific client software being required, but missing on this computer. To download client software for this provider, visit the following site and choose the 64-bit (x64) version of, at minimum, 'MySQL Connector/Net': https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=278885 (Session ID: 1d628150-9d5a-43d7-bc8a-615878581749)
Would appreciate any help or ideas of a workaround.
I am using Microsoft Fabric and trying to connect with the AWS RDS instance.
1. I have configured the data gateway but when I try to connect with it am facing the below error.
An exception occurred: We were unable to find a database provider with the invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'.
Anyone can help me.
Hi @aanyoti
It looks like the machine running the Gateway you're using does not have the MySQL connector installed on it.
For the Gateway to access data in a MySQL database it's going to need the connector installed.

Hope this helps

Hi @Burningsuit ,
Pardon the delayed response. Still cannot get this to work, installed the connector and still getting the same error. I have no issues working with PowerBI desktop, but PowerBI service continually throws this error.

Thanks, I have installed. Now getting an invalid credentials error which is quite strange. Will update once I manage to login.
