Hi Everyone,
I have created an app within a workspace to consolidate a handful of Power BI Reports. I am running refreshes on the desktop versions of these reports and publishing to the app workspace. When I open the individual reports in the workspace, they are all showing the most up to date information. I am then selecting "update app" to push these updates through to the app. However, when I open the app, the reports within it are not showing the most up to date information.
Has anybody run into this issue?
Hi @Anonymous
@edhans Good share!
The issue you're experiencing could be due to several factors:
Delay in the propagation of changes through the Power BI service.
Browser caching, which might show an older version of the reports within the app.
The update process within the app might not have been successful.
Please follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Ensure that the datasets for the reports have been refreshed successfully in the Power BI service.
You can check the refresh history by going to the dataset settings in the workspace.
After confirming the refresh, go to the workspace and update the app again.
Navigate to the app's settings and select 'Update app' to push the latest content.
Sometimes, your browser might cache an older version of the page.
Try clearing your browser cache or use an incognito/private browsing window to view the app.
Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to update the app.
You should have at least Contributor access to the workspace to update the app content.
After updating the app, check if there's any notification or status message indicating the progress or completion of the update.
This can be found in the workspace under the 'Settings' of the app.
Sometimes, it may take a while for the update to propagate across the Power BI service.
Wait for a few minutes and then check the app again.
Visit the Power BI support page or service health dashboard to check if there are any known issues affecting the service.
As a last resort, republish the reports from Power BI Desktop to the service and then update the app again.

Nono Chen

Thank you for your reply.
I have refreshed the app multiple times and have given a few days for updates to publish to no avail. It appears to be a bug with the app itself.
I've never seen this bug before. Strikes me as really odd.
What happens in the app if you click the counter-clockwise arrow?

MCSA: BI ReportingIt is odd, and that also does not fix the issue. I am curious if it has anything to do with data file size because some updates will publish while others will not.
For example, if I add a new slicer or a new visual to the report, those updates will push through right away and will be available instantly. I am having a problem with large detailed data sets. I am tracking order information and have a detail table at the bottom of one of the visuals, and little to no information will publish there while it is all visible in the report itself outside of the app.
You should open a ticket. There is something else going on. People have models dozens and even hundreds of gigs and the Apps work fine. Apps only use reports anyway, and they don't know how big the underlying semantic model is. They are just firing off queries waiting for responses.

MCSA: BI ReportingSometimes the app doesn't show the most recent changes immediately upon updating. You sometimes need to refresh your browser. I've never seen it take more than 2-3 minutes though after publishing the app update for the changes to work.
