Hey everyone, we're trying to schedule dataset refreshes for our reports in Power BI service but when I download the gateway connection it uses my work laptop as the connection which results in scheduled refresh failures since my laptop would have to be open and active at all times of refresh. Our datasets are derived from MySQL Workbench database. The database is hosted by AWS. What connection would my organization have to make so that our Power BI service stays connected to the AWS hosted MySQL database in order to successfully refresh our datasets as per schedules.
Thanks
Hi. Let's keep one thing in mind. Because the sources is MySQL you must use a gateway to connect with service, even if it's a cloud source. Your data is in AWS so maybe the best approach is using EC2 for a gateway and not a laptop. Of course for a test is perfectly fine. Consider that you must install a driver for connecting to MySQL with Gateway or even powerbi desktop (restart vm or pc after installing driver).
Just in case a configuration with old pictures step by step: https://blog.ladataweb.com.ar/post/189013278236/powerbigateway-configurar-una-actualización
I hope that helps
Happy to help!
