Do we need data gateway connection for refreshing data azure synapse anlalytics dedicated sql pool?

Hi 

I have a question, whether do we need data gateway for refreshing the data of azure synpase analytics dedicated sql pool data  in power bi service? 

If my data is in cloud of azure synapse analytics and whether it is in import/direct query, do i need data gateway or not?

if my data is in on-premises of azure synapse analytics and whether it is in import/direct query do i need data gateway or not? 

for the both the schenarios in power bi service.

    Hi Lahari 

    The Synapse workspace has this property 'Allow Azure services and resources to access this workspace/resource ', If it is enabled then powerbi can directly access the database without the need of a gateway.

    In case if the property is disabled, then you sould need to set up a gateway on a VM to refresh the PowerBI.

    I need to know if the database is in Cloud or on-premises where the database is in Azure Synapse Analytics then do i need gateway for this or not?
