On-Prem Gateway Issue

Hi Community!

Greetings,

I wanted to know one a certain scenario:

User A: hosting an on prem sql server - creates a report

User B: also does the same but has configured On-prem Gateway.

Can User A use the same gateway configured by User B to create connections to the servers hosted from his/her local system. (I am not using VM, just normal windows server that hosts the SQL servers.) Since we can provide access to gateways for users and allow them to create connections as well.

We tried this scenario and i also referred to many articles, one of them specifically mentioned that local servers require it's own gateways, however I see few people have implemented. Perhaps, I am new to this scenario but I feel this should be possible.

Thanks in Advance!
Hrishi

Hi @Anonymous Yes, it is possible for User A to use the gateway configured by User B if the gateway is installed on a system with access to both SQL servers, and User A has been granted access to the gateway and corresponding data source in Power BI Service. Please ensure that the gateway settings include the appropriate connection configurations for both users' SQL servers.
If this post helped please do give a kudos and accept this as a solution
Thanks In Advance

Hi @Akash_Varuna ,

Thanks for the response and confirmation. Can you please let me know if there are any article, video or documentation that talks about how servers hosted in different windows system can be accessed by a single gateway.

Thanks,

Hrishi
