Matrix upload misbehaving

Hi there. I have a matrix on PowerBI with three levels of hierarchy for first column: Continent, Country and State which expand and collapse beautifully... At least on PowerBI desktop. However, when I publish the first column is not present, 'Continent'. Country and state are both part of the main data set. Continent and country are a simple, 2-variable second data source. Both sources are present in both the power bi desktop and power bi service. I can make it work on Service fairly simply, I have to deselect Continent then reselect it. But that is an additional manual step for each publish I don't really want plus I'd like to learn what's going on ohere as I'm quite new to the tool. Thank you!

Hi. Thank you both of you your comments. Your comments were both helpful in finding the solution, which I think may have been more to do with reimporting of data.

Hi @johnb79 -Power BI Service might be saving the filter state from a previous session or when the report was last saved. This can cause certain hierarchy levels like "Continent" to not appear as expected.can you check if the data model for Continent, Country, and State is correctly linked, particularly across the two different datasets. In Power BI Desktop, make sure your matrix is configured properly, with the hierarchy showing the Continent at the top level and all levels expanded. In Power BI Service, try resetting the report’s view to default, clearing any persistent filters that may be saved from previous views.

try exploring the Bookmarks feature in Power BI Desktop to capture the expanded state of the matrix and ensure it carries over to Power BI Service after publishing.

Let me know how it goes, or if you'd like more specific guidance
