**Error while refreshing semantic model on Power BI service connected to Databricks backend**

Hello,

I have deployed a model on the Power BI service. When I try to refresh it, I get the following error after about an hour or so of refreshing

Data source error: {"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","parameters":{},"details":[{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorCode","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][Hardy] (35) Error from server: error code: '0' error message: 'Unable to continue fetch after reconnect. Retry limit exceeded.'."}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason","detail":{"type":1,"value":"DataSource.Error"}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: [Table_Name].

The model refreshes on the pwoer bi desktop. It also refreshes on the PBI Service, if I limit the number of rows returned to something less 20million- through a parameter. The data source is Databricks sql warehouse. If I am missing any pertinent piece of information please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi @Nafiul_Islam ,

Here are a few things you can try to fix the problem:

1. try reconnecting after clearing permissions in the data source settings.
2. try optimizing the query to reduce the amount of data being processed at one time. This may include filtering data at the data source or using more efficient query techniques.
3. make sure there are no network or firewall restrictions that could cause the connection to drop during the refresh process.

Here are some solutions to problems similar to yours that we hope will help you.

Solved: DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError - Microsoft Fabric Community

Thank you @Anonymous I tried option 1 and that did not help. I dont have a lot of leeway on option #2.  There are no firewall restrictions. I am talking to IT about this issue right now. They are looking at it. I will share the solution.

Hi @Nafiul_Islam

Based off the results of your issue, it looks like their might be a connection issue between power BI and your Databricks cluster. I would chat to your databricks admin to see if they can track as to why it is failing.
