Hi.
I have the following requirments for a report:
- The visuals should always have updated data.
- If a report user is viewing the report in Power BI Service and data source is changed, the change should be reflected in the report
In order to achive this I have made a simple report using
- Data Connection type = DirectQuery -> to always get fresh data from data source
- Used Automatic Page Refresh -> in order for visuals to automatically refresh visuals when the report is openas described in documentation https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-automatic-page-refresh
Problem:
When a report is opened in Power BI Service, it shows the lastest data.
But: visuals does not automatcally update when the underlying data is changed:
The user have to refresh his/her browser.
The visuals in the report on Power BI Service does not update automatically when data is changed.
It works on the same report in Power BI Desktop.
It seems like the Automatic Page Refresh is not working as expected on Power BI Service.
The snip below shows that the visuals updates when data in changed in Power BI Desktop, but not Power BI Service.
Technical specifications:
Workspace: report is in a premium capacity
License: Trial
Capacity settings: SKU: FT1
Auto Page Refresh settings:
Any help would be much appreciated!
Kind regards

Hi, @cosm
The interval you set is smaller than the minimum interval set by your administrator for that capacity.
At this point, the minimum interval set by your administrator is used as the refresh standard:
If you want to refresh at the minimum you set, you'll need to ask your administrator to set the minimum refresh interval in the Admin portal to a lower value than the number you configured on the page. This ensures that the refresh operation proceeds smoothly.

Hi, thanks for answers
- @v-jianpeng-msft (minimum interval in the capacity)
- @Tutu_in_YYC (browser issues)
I accept @v-jianpeng-msft answer since it seems to be the most likely explaination and solution for the probem.
Changing browser, as suggested by@Tutu_in_YYC , did not solve the problem in my case.
yup, thats correct. Forgot about that.

Hi, sounds like the issue is with the browser. Some browser retains the cache longer, and that cannot be configured by power bi service. Try different browsers, and also look into the cache settings of the browsers. You can also try getting a browser plugin that auto refresh the browser page too.
