Can someone help me understand datasets?
I have created a dataset in the desktop application. I made sure each of the data fields was formatted in the manner I want them (i.e. percent.)
However, when I publish that dataset the service ignores my formatting and I can't change it. Why? I can't even adapt the formatting in a visual.
Am I doing something wrong here?
What is the point of formatting data in the desktop if the service ignores it when I publish the data set?
Thank you for your assistance.
Hi @paulsw
Try refreshing the dataset in Power BI Service.

Thank you @mohammedadnant. The only refresh I see is the scheduled refresh which in my understanding would only update the data in the dataset. I am thinking this would not affect how the data is stored for the entire dataset.
Hi @paulsw
Can you make sure to click on the Reset to Default to make sure no old settings are in place?
Also what happens if you upload it to another App Workspace, does it work there?
Thank you @GilbertQ
Where would I find "Reset to Default"?
In this situation this is a first time load of this dataset to this Workspace so I would assume the results would be the same should I load it to a different workspace.
Thank you @GilbertQ but I don't see any such button in the daataset. I can see something similar in a report but not the dataset.
Hi @paulsw
Yes that is correct you can only do it on the reporting level where you should see button which would reset any filters that have been applied!
Hi @paulsw
Dataset in Desktop or Service is the same. What could make the difference in the service is the browser,Location, DateTime, Language...
