Dataset size limit vs Capacity Memory

Hi,

Accordnig to Microsoft document, there are maximum dataset sizes per capacity.  P1 for example, the maximum dataset size is 3 GB.  Also, the memory size for P1 capacity is 25 GB.  My understanding is that the 3 GB limit is for a single dataset, while the 25 GB means that  theoretically the total size of all datasets in the capacity can be up to 25GB (of couse memory is also used for query operations). Is my understandnig correct?

In addtion, the dataset size for A6/P3 is 10GB, but it says "On A6 or P3 capacities, datasets can be refreshed to up to 12 GB.". This is a bit confusing.  which of the limits count?  What does that mean? Is there anyone that could help me out?

Thanks,

Marcus

Hi  @liushiyou ,

Not quite accurate, there is another parameter to note, that is, the number of v cores, different P/A sku corresponding to the number of v cores are different.

  • Backend v-cores are responsible for core Power BI functionality, including query processing, cache management, running R services, model refresh, and server-side rendering of reports and images. Backend v-cores are assigned a fixed amount of memory that is primarily used to host models, also known as active datasets.

So for P1/A4, it supports parallel querying of four queries with a maximum of 8GB of memory, but at most 6 parallel queries.

The understanding of the maximum data set refresh to 12GB is:
