Hi all,
I am having some issues trying to include a new linked entity in a dataflow.
If I click "add linked entity" I get a grey screen with "We encountered an unexpected error" and then a session ID. Powerquery locks up and I can't navigate away without closing the whole browser tab.
I thought maybe this was caused by the workspace being part of a pipeline, however, if I try to do this in another (non-pipeline workspace) I get a bit further but get told that I am not signed in, then get a message "There was an error in the OAuth popup window"
I've tested multiple browsers with same issue, my colleague also has the same.
Any ideas what's going on and how to fix? If we can't link dataflows together it makes a "single version of the truth" much harder to develop

Just to close the loop on this, after a lot of time talking to MS support we discovered through trial and error that the issue was being caused by an out of date gateway.
It was hard to diagnose as the queries using the gateway worked fine, it was only when adding a linked entity that wasn't using the gateway that the error (really unhelpful message and code) occurred.

Hi @itchyeyeballs ,
I have reproduced your problem. If you click "add linked entity" and get a grey screen with "We encountered an unexpected error", then clear the cache of the browser and refresh the page. Then you will enter the connection credentials page of the dataflow. It will ask you to sign in. You need to set the gateway to none, and then sign in.
After logging in to your account, select the gateway.
If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information or the expected result you expect. Let me know immediately, looking forward to your reply.

Winniz

Hi @v-kkf-msft ,
Thank you for getting back to me, I followed the suggested steps, clearing the browser cache solved the grey screen error but still get an OAuth error when logging into the gateway in the final step
Hi @itchyeyeballs ,
First you need to select the gateway to none, and then sign in. After logging in to your account, select the gateway you need.

Hi,
Thats what I did, It let me sign in when the gateway was set to none but then when I select the gateway I get the OAuth error.
If I try to proceed with no Gateway I get a different error

@itchyeyeballs @v-kkf-msft jst checking , if you have managed to resolve this or did you hear back from Microsoft .
i'm facing a similar issue , where i need to use a linked entity and append (combine) this data to a history table , but if if i disable the linked entity , the latest data is not updated to my new (appended table)
curios to know how did you get away with this .
@Anonymous yes, in my update on Tuesday I reported that updating the gateway fixed it.
What do you mean by 'disable' the linked entity?
When using a dataflow as a linked entity the gateway should be set to none, you should also untick 'enable load' in the power query editor
