Data Flow column refresh error

Hi,

I work with Power BI Desktop and Service and have began using DataFlows to extract data from Database. When I added a new column to the table in my database, the entity in dataflow starts giving error. The error stated that there were more columns than expected. This causes report failures.

Can anyone tell me how to solve this and update dataflow entity to include newly added column in source.

Hi @Parimal_Patil ,

If the source of your dataflow changes (i.e. more/less columns), you can try this workaround:

1. edit dataflow (no actual edits required)
2. click Validate and Save
3. Refresh your dataflow after saving
4. Refresh Power BI report and your new column will be available without error

You can validate all of this happens by reviewing the exported JSON file before valdiating and saving your dataflow and then viewing again after saving...you'll noticed that before the JSON did not having the new column and after, it will.

Hi @Parimal_Patil,

you will have to edit the dataflow to adjust for the extra column in the database. I don't think there's a way to do that automatically if that's what you mean?
