Custom filter and create groups

Hi,

I have a large data file containing tasks of work, either complete or ongoing. Each of these tasks has a Job description and I want to group the job description into 4 categories; Civil, Electrical, Financial and Turbine.

There are 12,000 lines of data with around 100+ Job descriptions. Therefore, I am unable to create a conditional column to group the data.

Is there a way I can select all the Tasks in Regards to Electrical and define them as such?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide

Hi @JakeMenday

Not sure if my understanding is correct.

Did you try the conditional column in the power query? you can define the contains function, if there're some description should be included by others, the Contains works:

sure, as long as your data has an idea of what "Electrical"  means. What would the criteria be?
