Hi,
I want to add a table from SQL to the Usage Metrics Report ?
how can i do ?
I saved as the app to try to modify but cannot add data, cannot change the connection type ( Or dont know how)
Thank you
Hi @menphis21 ,
To dig into the report data, or to build your own reports against the underlying dataset, you have several options:
For more details, you can read related document: Monitor usage metrics in workspaces (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Hi @Anonymous ,
Thank you.
for the first two options, when you are connecting to the dataset of Usage Metric report, you cannot add any table on the dataset and thats why i need.
Also when you saved as copy, you cannot add anything its blocked.
About using Analyse in Excel, its manually, so i will need to redo the work the next month.
Am i missing something ?
Hi @menphis21 ,
You could connect to Usage Metrics dataset in Power BI Desktop with Direct Query connection type, for this connection type you colud get data from other data source, then you could create your report with data.

@Anonymous Can you explain me please how can i do it ? Its a power bi dataset right ?
Where should i change the connection type ? i have no options like that
Go to Model Tab, properties, advanced, Storage Mode, Direct Query.
If that doesn't work try making a calculated table. Any old table will do. Hopefully it'll give it the kick to pop up the dialog box to set up a composite model.
Be warned that such a pbix won't update in Service, microsoft made the usage metrics some special little flower that's specifically exempt from being able to be refreshed in service.
Hi @menphis21 ,
Usage Metrics dataset is a Power BI Dataset, when you connect to PBI Dataset in Power BI Desktop, the default connection type is Live Connection, but when you connect to other data source after had connected to Usage Metrics dataset, the storage mode will change to Mixed.
So you could create a Mixed storage mode to create your report.

HI @Anonymous ,
Thank you. But thats my problem, i cannot connect to other data source because i am already connected to Usage Metrics dataset. (screenshot below)
I am missing something ?
Hi @menphis21
You need to do this connection differently.
Start by connecting to your SQL Tables in Import Mode then Get Data to connect to AAS in order to get the Dataset from the service.

@Anonymous Hi,
I am still trying to find a solution

Hi @menphis21
You need to use Power BI Rest APIs to export metrics report to a local machine then use Power BI to connect to these exported files and to the table from SQL. Build your report
