can't refresh data

Hi. I'm using PowerBI for client MI. Data source is a PowerApp questionaire the client completes. I haven't looked at the data for a few months. Today I try to run a PowerBI query I create a while ago and I get this message.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @Vikkers

Since you mentioned that you are not using Dataverse, But if the connection was established with an old Common Data Service (CDS) connector, it might not function correctly anymore. Microsoft has transitioned from CDS to Dataverse, and the query may need to be updated accordingly.

  • Recent Modifications: If the PowerApps questionnaire has been recently modified, the Power Query might still reference outdated data structures.
  • Connector Verification: Verify where the PowerApps questionnaire responses are stored, ensure the correct connector is being used, and update Power BI to the latest version.

If the issue persists, it may be helpful to open a support ticket with Microsoft Fabric for further investigation.

Hello @Vikkers

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Fabric community! We understand you're facing an issue while refreshing the data. Let's address and troubleshoot this problem.

The error message "The import CommonDataService.Database matches no exports. Did you miss a module reference?" indicates that Power BI is unable to access the Common Data Service (CDS) or dataverse tables that were previously connected. Since the data source is a PowerApps questionnaire, the issue may be due to:

  • Dataverse Table Permissions: The user may no longer have access to the dataverse environment or the tables.
  • Dataverse Table Changes: The structure of the PowerApps questionnaire might have changed, resulting in missing tables or columns.
  • Environment or Connection Issues: The dataverse environment may have been renamed, deleted, or moved to another tenant.
  • Outdated Power BI Query: If the query was created a while ago, the connection string may need to be refreshed.

Please consider the below steps:

  • Check Dataverse Permissions: Ensure you have access to the dataverse tables in PowerApps.
  • Verify Table Structure: Confirm that the table names and fields used in power bi still exist.
  • Reconnect Power BI to Dataverse: Update credentials in data source settings and reselect the correct environment.
  • Refresh Power BI Queries: Open Power Query Editor, fix errors in navigation or column transformations, and apply changes.
  • Reinstall Dataverse Connector : Update Power BI and ensure the correct dataverse connector is installed.
