28392 TopicsExcel Export Errors Occur Frequently in One Power BI Service Workspace but Not Another
Hello, Please excuse any awkward wording, as I am not very comfortable with English and am writing this post with the help of a translation tool. I am experiencing frequent export errors with a Power BI report published to Workspace A in Power BI Service. The exact same PBIX file has also been published to Workspace B, but the report works without any export errors in Workspace B. I have also confirmed that the report works correctly in Power BI Desktop. The settings in Workspace A and Workspace B are basically the same, as far as I can tell. Both workspaces use the same capacity type, and there is plenty of available capacity. The capacity limit is 10 GB, and the current usage is well below that limit. My questions are: What could cause export errors to occur in one workspace but not in another, even when the same PBIX file is used? Are there any workspace-specific settings, service-side limitations, or other factors that I should investigate? Could differences in the semantic model, data source connections, or the Power BI Service environment cause this behavior, even if the workspace settings appear to be the same? Is there anything else I can check to identify the cause of this issue? I would appreciate any suggestions or insights that could help me troubleshoot this issue. Thank you for your help!36Views0likes3CommentsData Source Parameters in Direct Lake mode
Hi Community, I’m trying to find out whether it’s possible to parameterize a Direct Lake connection. From what I can see, once connected to a Lakehouse in Direct Lake mode, there’s no option to edit Power Query and add parameters. Ideally, I’d like to parameterize the Workspace ID and Lakehouse ID in the connection path. expression 'DirectLake - FlowMonitoring' = let Source = AzureStorage.DataLake( "https://onelake.dfs.fabric.microsoft.com/r0000d91-0000-0000-9745-4rty2fa0e23c/bb2xz8c3-0000-0000-0000-0056c4f0000", [HierarchicalNavigation = true] ) in Source I took the above from the TMDL view. However, I’m not sure what the best way is to repoint my Direct Lake model to a different Lakehouse when promoting the model across workspaces. Any advice would be much appreciated. I have an excel file, which has three tables has shown below, i wanted to combine the tables in such a way all the details are aligned as shown in the result table. Hi everyone, I hope you are doing fine. I'm struggling to display the data to the Power BI Desktop from my computer. After opening Power BI Desktop and go to Get Data, the imported file can't display at the Power Query Editor to preview the data, you will see the file 01-Starter-Sales Analysis, but no data will not appear. If you go to the File Explorer, you will see save as 01-Starter-Sales Analysis.pbix. Even 01-Solution-Sales Analysis.pbix all these two files can't be appeared as CSV when you go to Get Data. However, there is a dropdown where you see csv and all files. All files there you can see 01-Starter-Sales Analysis.pbix. 01-Solution-Sales Analysis.pbix thus make it difficult for me as a beginner. Please your feedback is needed.Solved122Views2likes5CommentsDates in my CSV import are coming through wrong in Power Query
I’m importing a CSV export from our ERP and the order dates are a mess. The file has dates like 03/04/2024, which should be 3 April (we’re UK based), but Power Query reads them as March 4th. If the day is over 12, like 25/04/2024, it turns into an error instead. I let it auto-detect the type, and the step it generated is just: = Table.TransformColumnTypes(Source, {{"OrderDate", type date}}) My Windows regional settings are English (United States) and I’d rather not change them since it’s a shared laptop. Is there a way to tell Power Query to read the column as day/month/year without touching the system settings?Solved55Views0likes1CommentThe column 't5.c514' of the table was not found
The error indicates that the t5.c514 column is being referenced during the underlying query/model processing but is not available in the returned result set. Captured the query execution using DAX Studio → Server Timings to identify the underlying SQL generated for the DAX query. Reviewed the SQL generated in Server Timings and validated the SQL statements executed against the backend. No reference to t5.c514 was found in the generated SQL. The generated SQL does not contain a column or alias explicitly referencing t5.c514, even though the Power Query/Mashup error reports that this column is missing. To further isolate the issue, we selected individual columns from the _Employee Assignment Information table and executed separate DAX queries to validate whether the issue was specific to a particular column. But the issue did not occur when selected few particular columns, can someone please help, what exactly the c514 column the engine to mapping to ? Hi all, I'd like some input from people running incremental refresh on larger semantic models in the Service, specifically around data that arrives (or gets corrected) after its period has already moved out of the refresh window. Setup Import semantic model on Fabric capacity, fact table ~400M rows Incremental refresh policy: archive = 5 years refresh = last 10 days (by TransactionDate) detect data changes = off Source = SQL (warehouse), scheduled refresh 4x per day The problem Every few weeks the source team backfills or corrects transactions that are 1-3 months old. Because those days are outside the 10-day window, the model never picks them up, and month-end numbers in the report drift from the source until someone notices. Options I'm weighing: 1. widen the refresh window to ~90 days -> simple, but every scheduled refresh gets much heavier 2. turn on "detect data changes" with a LastModified column -> only changed partitions reprocess, but needs a reliable audit column 3. leave the policy as-is and refresh specific partitions on demand via XMLA / enhanced refresh API when a backfill happens 4. a weekly full refresh with applyRefreshPolicy = false -> brute force, long-running For option 3, I was thinking of something like this, triggered by the source team's backfill job: POST .../datasets/{datasetId}/refreshes { "type": "full", "commitMode": "transactional", "applyRefreshPolicy": false, "objects": [ { "table": "FactSales", "partition": "2026Q3" } ] } Questions 1. Which approach are you using in practice, and how has it held up? 2. With detect data changes, does a LastModified that only moves forward per row work well when rows get updated multiple times, or have you run into partitions being missed? 3. For targeted partition refreshes, how do you find the right partition names reliably (they change granularity as they age from day to month to quarter to year)? Do you query the partitions first, or derive them from the date? 4. Any gotchas with running an on-demand partition refresh while a scheduled refresh is in progress? Thanks, I appreciate any real-world experience here.Solved123Views1like8CommentsRun R/Python scripts in PBI Power Query
I want to use R/Python scripts to transform data in PBI Power Query, but I cannot see those options under the "Transform" ribbon now. Does anyone have any ideas to make it show up? Thank you. I'm using the September 2026 version of PBI. There is no show of "Run R Script / Run Python script": This is the snapshot that I usually see on the very right shown two icons that I want to bring back.Solved150Views0likes4CommentsCannot Set Custom Query on "new" Power Query
Hi, Following latest September 2026 Power BI Update, I'm not able to edit a native database query on Power Query, the option has vanished. The query is still showing in the m-query editor, and I'm getting the data with the native query. But the option to add/edit the query from the option menu has vanished. How it used to display, and how it's on the Power Query documentation.
