Hello,
I just noticed that the drilldown feature in my report has stopped working. I am using the Simple Waterfall visual. Previously, when I clicked on the chart, it would open the next layer down, but this is no longer happening.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue? It’s not working in both the Desktop version and the Service. I urgently need assistance.
Thank you!

I really thought a simple waterfall is just a way to describe your waterfall setup. Yes, I can replicate your issue. Since this is a custom visual, I recommend reaching out to the custom visual developer. In the meantime, you can instruct users to right-click on a section and select drilldown. Otherwise, if other features aren’t needed, I’d suggest sticking with the native visual.
Hi, I am also facing the same issue. It appears that they updated the version on 10 Jan 2025 and all my visuals have also gone for toss, including X axis heirerchies, where labels are not merging. I sent them an email tady. Hopw they fix this.
Hi @Martha25 ,
Whether the advice given by danextian has solved your confusion, if it is, kindly Accept it as the solution. More people will benefit from it.
As danextian mentioned, we recommend that you use native visual objects. If you have additional needs to use a custom visual object, we recommend that you contact the developer of that visual object.
Best Regards,
Neeko Tang
I have also noticed sudden problems with the "Simple Waterfall" add-in visual. Suddenly, it does not "fit" and I must widen it so that it will display the columns (otherwise I must click on "focus mode" to see it). Suddenly, its "auto" format for the Data Labels results in no formatting at all: i.e. no commas, no auto-selection of Thousands or Millions etc., just one long string of digits. Both in Desktop and in Power BI Service. I have used this visual in this same setting for over 2 years. So this is definitely something weird with this particular free waterfall add-in.
Hi @Martha25
Ensure that Drill Mode is enabled and your hierarchy contains multiple dimensions.
Thanks, yes, it is enabled, and I have an extra data layer underneath. It was working well 2 weeks ago, but today I noticed that it stopped responding.
Were you able to publish it before? Does it work fine in the service/Desktop?
Yes, it was published and was working fine in both service and desktop. But now does not work in either.
That is pretty odd as drill mode works fine on my end. What happens if you try to recreate the visual?
It’s very strange. I tried rebuilding the visual, but it’s still not working. I also removed the visual from the pane and downloaded it again, but it’s still not working. One thing I’ve noticed is that I had a Fabric free trial before, and it has now ended. Could that have an impact? I have a Premium capacity license.
I also removed the visual from the pane and downloaded it again - is this a custom viz? You shouldn't be able to remove and re-install native visuals as they can only be unpinned and restored or enabled if on preview.
Yes, it is a custom visual, called Simple Waterfall, as mentioned in the title.
