I have subject issue - it's the same as this "Solved" issue:
Is there no solution to this issue? Or how can you see a list of the native M functions which work in Desktop but not in service and vice versa?

I think I've solved the problem myself:
The error message was a red herring - I uploaded the Power BI file to the service again but this time to another tenant (the tenant to which my On-premises data gateway is linked to) and it worked.
So presumably it had something to do with the data gateway!
