undefinedData source errorDataFormat.Error: We were unable to load this Excel file because we couldn

Sine around a month ago or so, when I try refresh my powerbis from the Service, I got this error 

  • Data source errorDataFormat.Error: We were unable to load this Excel file because we couldn't understand its format. File contains corrupted data.. Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ErrorCode = 10942. ;We were unable to load this Excel file because we couldn't understand its format. File contains corrupted data.. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface. Table: Iberia People-Skills.

 

The reports works OK since the desktop, but I am not able to refresh any powerbi reports that uses excels from a sharepoint.

 

I have search in the web, and it seems that I am not the only one having the issue, but I am not able to find out if there is any solution, apart from having to republish te report everything that that I need to regres the data

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
Please confirm if the file is saved in .xlsx format only older formats like .xls may not work well. Check if the Excel file has any broken links, hidden sheets, or damaged data.Try removing the connection to this file in Power BI Desktop, connect it again freshly, and then publish the report once more.
Also, in Power BI Service, please check the dataset settings and make sure that the SharePoint connection is using “Organizational account”.

I have deleted the file from the sharepoint, and saveit again (exactly the same file).  I republish the PowerBi again also, and now I am able to refresh the PowerBI.  Many thenaks for the help

Hi, you may try manually open the problematic Excel file in Desktop, then re-save it to SharePoint. Make sure to keep the file name the same and keep it in the same Sharepoint folder and just open and re-save/ overwrite the old one. 

 

Not 100% sure it will fix the issue. when similar issue happened here this is what i normally do.
