Hi,
In the settings menu under datasets > Scheduled Refresh it is possible to indicate which e-mail adress should receive a notification who should receive a message when a refresh fails
This week my colleague received a few mails from the powerbi that a scheduled refresh has been pauzed due to inactivity.
Earlier we had encountered the same problem when a different refresh was stopped due to a bug,
In total we had 3 refreshes with issues for which we should have gotten a mailing about.
1) To 3 people: Colleagues A & B and Me
2) To 2 people: Colleague B and Me
3) To 2 people: Colleague B and Me
However the only one who received a mail of the failed refresh was the first emailadress mentioned (order was as noted above).
I have checked my spambox or every other folder in my email and I can't find any mail from powerbi.
Anyone else has encountered the same bug or even better knows a solution to my problem? Or what I might be doing wrong?
Make sure both the checkboxes Dataset owner & These contacts: are checked
Under the these contact validate the email IDs that you have added
If this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution and give it a thumbs up
Why check both boxes? I don't understand the logic behind checking both boxes or is this functionality bugged?
Seems the dataset owner did get the same mail today as my colleague did earlier but this still does not explains why I never did.
Check out the November 2025 Power BI update to learn about new features.
