Hi @vishy0501

If you connect the SQL server by Direct query mode and configure the gateway but not set schedule refresh, you should know the only refresh depends on the tile refresh. A tile is a report visual pinned to a dashboard, and dashboard tile refreshes happen about every hour so that the tiles show recent results.  that the refresh time indicated in the stamp. If you connect SQL server by Import mode and didn't set the schedule refresh or manual refresh, the stamp time shows the publish time from desktop to service.

More details please refer to the official document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-data

Hi @vishy0501

The refresh of published data won't happen automatically always, but depends on the data source type. If the datasource is from Onedrive/Sharepoint, the refresh happens every one hour by default, you can also set the schdule refresh under setting. But if the datasource is a on-premise file, you'll need to install the gateway to enable the refresh.

 Hi ,

Thanks for your prompt reply however i have a question on the same

1. My datasource is SQL and when i publish in dataset section there is a option which says the data set refresh has been succeed at a particular time stamp , how to interpret that message.

Note - I didnt refresh it manually and have scheduled the refresh as well and i am not able to see this message in the schedule refresh history section as well.

below is the screenshot of the same. refresh status on dataset.PNG
