"Power BI was unable to read the application metadata" for reports in one workspace only

Our app and pipeline seems to have gotten corrupted in one of our Dev workspaces on Thursday (6 days ago).  Many, many other workspaces across the company continue to work without a problem.

I posted about "missing Update App" button on this thread.

This issue certainly seems to be related, but it comes from a different angle, so I thought to discuss it in this separate thread.

When we click on https://app.powerbi.com/groups/me/apps/[app  GUID]/, or any similar, longer links that we bookmarked inside the app for a particular report or page, we get the "unabled to read the application metadata" error message with a cartoon owl.

Additional text on this error page (with some points redacted for security):

Please check the Power BI service status in the below support page and try again later.

Date and Time: 2024-11-13 [redacted]
Activity Id: [redacted]
Request Id: [redacted]

Notes: I have worked many years across many workspaces and have never seen this before.  The error occurs from all different browsers that my remote colleague and I have tried.  It really seems to be some kind of corruption in the service.  Does anyone have any ideas about what is happening, or has anyone had a similar experience?  Note we submitted a Microsoft Support ticket Thursday (six days ago), but no progress has been reported yet.

The Microsoft support team got back to me yesterday afternoon, saying it was a bug and it was fixed. The issue is resolved. Note that we confirmed the issue existed through yesterday morning.

We are asking them for details about this bug, but I'm not expecting much.

Update: They did say that we were not the only one affected, and that all issues have been resolved.

We are seeing the same issue on a client tenant.

Hi @tlaresch2 ,

With so little information available at this time, I am unable to determine what is causing your issue.

So please be patient and wait for a response from the Microsoft support team who will get more details from you to better help you resolve the issue.

It would be great if you could continue to share this issue once you know the root cause or solution to help others who are experiencing similar issues.
